What is the 1/4″ 3-flute roughing endmill for?

It's built to remove wood fast. Three carbide flutes clear bulk material in a hurry, so your finishing bit can focus on the surface instead of the heavy lifting.

What speeds and feeds should I use?

Start at 18,000 rpm, 100 ipm feed and 50 ipm plunge. That works out to about 0.0019″ chip load per flute. Adjust in small steps for your machine and your wood.

Why is the cut diameter 0.236″ and not 1/4″?

0.236″ is 6 mm. Enter 0.236″ as the tool diameter in your CAM so your toolpaths and offsets come out right. The shank is a standard 1/4″.

Do I still need a finishing pass?

Yes. Roughing is about speed, not surface quality. Leave a thin allowance, typically around 0.01″ to 0.02″, and clean it up with a finishing bit.

What materials can I cut with it?

This bit is made for wood. We don't recommend it for other materials.

Will it fit my CNC router?

If your router or spindle takes a 1/4″ collet, yes. Overall length is 2.5″ with a 1.125″ cut length, so check your clearance before you plunge.
