Machine time: the machine's real running cost (electricity, wear, consumables), or what you value your own machine time at

Material markup: applied to materials and consumables first, before anything else. Covers waste, offcuts, remnants, and the risk of prices changing between when you buy and when you use it. We default this to 60% — a material that cost you $40 gets treated as $64 in the job's cost.
